COP30 Prayer Station
Welcome!
Thank you for visiting this space of prayer, reflection, and action.
September’s Theme:
Workers and Livelihoods in Transition
This month we are invited to pause, reflect on, and pray for workers in traditional industries like coal, oil, and gas, for other industries that may be impacted by climate-related policies, and for fair opportunities as affected workers transition to other jobs.
Why This Matters
God cares deeply about both creation and people, especially those who are vulnerable in times of change.
From the beginning, work has been part of God's good design. In Genesis, God gives humans the role of cultivating and caring for the earth. But throughout Scripture, we also see God’s concern for justice, fair treatment of workers, and compassion for those at risk of being left behind.
Today, as the world transitions away from fossil fuels and unsustainable industries, many jobs, such as coal miners, oil engineers, and factory staff, will be threatened, and many other industries face uncertainty. Livelihoods are shifting, and whole communities feel the pressure. This is not just an economic issue, but a spiritual one.
God is a God of justice who defends the oppressed (Isaiah 1:17).
God is a God of provision, who gives work meaning (Ecclesiastes 3:13).
God is a God of transformation, who leads people into new seasons of hope (Isaiah 43:19).
As we pray for the planet, we must also pray for people, for a just transition where no one is forgotten. We pray for systems that reflect God’s justice, for opportunities that restore dignity, and for new paths that honour both creation and community.
Let’s ask God to move in the hearts of leaders, employers, and innovators to prioritise people, not just profits. Let’s also be open to how we, as the Church, might walk alongside those whose futures are uncertain.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves… defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9
How You Can Pray

Pray for creativity -
Ask God for breakthroughs in innovation that create sustainable jobs and respects people's dignity.
At our prayer station you’ll find interactive ways to engage with this theme. We invite you to join us in praying for the Church’s responsibility, and for our individual responsibility, to respond to God’s call to care for Creation.
