COP30 Prayer Station

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting this space of prayer, reflection, and action.

November’s Theme: Innovation and Technology

This month we are invited to pause, reflect on, and pray for breakthroughs in technology and research to accelerate climate solutions, particularly innovation to avoid impacting economically disadvantaged communities.

Why This Matters

As the impacts of climate change grow more urgent, the need for innovative and technological solutions has never been greater. Around the world, communities are working to find ways to reduce emissions, adapt to changing conditions, and build a more sustainable future. From renewable energy sources, to breakthroughs in food systems, construction, and clean transportation, human creativity is a God-given gift that can be used to bring life, restoration, and healing.

Innovation, when guided by compassion and wisdom, can help us respond to the climate crisis in ways that are hopeful and effective. Yet we also recognise that not all technological progress is automatically good. Many climate solutions risk deepening existing inequalities if they are designed without attention to justice; too often, the most advanced technologies are inaccessible to those who need them most, and some innovations, though well-intended, can create new problems. For example, solutions that appear to be beneficial and proactive may come at a cost to the poorest and most vulnerable, both in our own country and across the world.

As followers of Christ, we are called to pray for wisdom - not just for new ideas, but for insight into how those ideas are used and shared. We pray for inventors, engineers, funders, and leaders, that they might be guided not just by excellence but by integrity. We pray for the Church to be a voice that both celebrates human creativity and calls for it to be shaped by love, justice, and humility.

God has given us minds to solve problems, and hearts to ensure that solutions are for the good of all. Let us seek him as we pray for the innovations that will shape our shared future.

How You Can Pray

Pray for wisdom -

Ask God to grant wisdom and creativity to scientists, engineers, designers, and researchers developing climate solutions, that their work would be guided by integrity, compassion, and long-term vision.

Pray for breakthrough -

Ask God for urgent breakthroughs in areas like renewable energy, water access, food production, and sustainable materials.

Pray for compassion -

Lift up to God communities that are often excluded from access to new technology. Pray that innovations would benefit the poor and the vulnerable, not just the wealthy and powerful.

At our prayer station you’ll find interactive ways to engage with this theme. We invite you to join us in praying for the Church’s responsibility, and for our individual responsibility, to respond to God’s call to care for Creation.

Looking Ahead

Next month we will be looking at the future generations, and how we should be praying for them now to intercede for their future.

Thank You for Praying!

Your prayers matter. Let’s stand together in faith, trusting that God cares about his creation and is at work in our world.
